I'm trying to figure out as to what to do with healthcare in the future as I have no income, i'm not employed and I will be cut off from my family's insurance at age 26. (In March 2020) I live in Virginia.
Currently I am on my mom's insurance through her work but it cuts off the day i'm 26. I am claimed as a dependent on her taxes but she will not be listing as a dependent when it's time to do taxes for the upcoming year. My mom makes more than the poverty level within a year but is unable/unwilling to support me with healthcare once I am cut off of her insurance.
I live with her and she pays for my food, but beyond that I am mostly on my own. I have less than 1k in my possession. When its time to apply for medicare, will I be eligible? Or it will still go off my mom's income? I will not qualify based off my mom's income but again, she has stated she cannot support me once my insurance is cut off.
I have pcos and a uterine fibroid so i'm very scared to have no health care what so ever. I don't know when I will be able to work next and I don't have many ways to make money informally in the mean time. I have no children and I am not married.
Will I be able to get medicare or will living with my mom make me unable to? All of this stuff is really confusing and I don't know what to really do, please help.
