Updated with new $25 refer-a-friend offer. The Voyager app offers commission-free trading of various cryptocurrencies including bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). It is now live in 49 out of 50 states (all but New York). I’m not a Bitcoin enthusiast, but previously they were giving out free $25 BTC (easily sold for $25 USD) for just downloading the app and opening an account, so I did that and got my free $25 and referral bonuses without issue once they got approval to operate in my state. You can easily sell the bitcoin and transfer dollars back into your bank account.
Voyager’s co-founders include some notable figures in the industry. The CEO is Stephen Ehrlich, the former CEO and founder of Lightspeed Financial (spun off by E*Trade). Oscar Salazar, Uber co-founder and former Chief Technical Officer. Philip Eytan, an early Uber investor. Here is a Fortune magazine profile. Voyager is now listed on the Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE), recently acquired the Ethos wallet, and also acquired a FINRA broker-dealer.
Now for every friend that you get to sign up and trade a minimum of $100, they will give you both $25 of free Bitcoin. This is a change in their refer-a-friend program. The trading requirement is new and so you’ll have to fund it with $100, but even a quick in-and-out $100 trade will satisfy the requirement. You’d have to link up a bank account to take out your referral bonus anyway.
Here is my $25 BTC referral link, although it just redirects to the App Store. Thanks if you use it. In order to ensure you are credited properly, be sure to enter my referral promo code JONA3F during the account sign-up process, fund your account, and trade $100 of BTC. You should then see $25 of BTC deposited in your account within 72 hours as a referral bonus. You can also then start referring others for more bonuses.
