I looked into how my credit was doing the other day because I received an email saying that there was a new account on my credit report, which was odd so I looked into it. I made a Med Express trip back in October and paid my copay at the door, saw a doctor, and walked out without ever being notified of needing to pay any other bill. Well, I look at my report and see that I had an account with the collections agency Transworld Systems Inc. on February of this year, and have not been notified from either Med Express nor them that I had an outstanding balance at any point. No email, no voicemail, no letter in the mail. It's such a small bill of $210 that I can pay right now, but the problem is that this could've possibly been an error in reaching out to my insurance and I now have a derogatory mark on my credit report. I'm 20 years old in school with no loans, a job as a barista with income still coming in, and have been very careful to keep my score up, and was at around a 730 before this happened the other day. This since has dropped me to a 670 on Equifax and 660 on TransUnion, and I'm worried that this mark is going to prevent me from being accepted for a sublet with my roommates for the fall. Is there any way I can get this removed from my credit report without spending money other than repaying the bill, and will this stop me from being accepted to a sublet agreement?
